Description:

Medicago truncatula, commonly known as barrelclover or barrel medic, is a member of the Leguminosae, and, like other members of this clade, is capable of endosymbiotic nitrogen fixation. It is a well established genetic model system for legume biology and a close relative of alfalfa, which is an important crop species.
