Description:

Vitis vinifera or common grape represents thousands of cultivated varieties that are grown on every continent except for Antarctica. Grapes are a significant agricultural crop because the fruits are used both for eating and wine making. The relationship between humans and grape is ancient, extending as far back as Neolithic times.

Grape is a very ancient hexaploid and there is significant variation between cultivars.
