Description:

Cucumis sativus, or better known as cucumber is a member of the Cucurbitaceae family that includes gourds such as pumpkin and squash.It is an annual plant, grown for its fruits which are consumed directly or commonly pickled. Like other gourds, cucumber is monoecious (producing both male and female flowers on the same plant) and is useful as a model for sex determination studies.
